Navigating the Eastern Metropolitan Region Private and Public Mental Health Services

ABOUT THE NAVIGATION TOOL

This tool has been developed by staff at the Greater Eastern Primary Health and the Manager of the Eastern Health Primary Mental Health Team in consultation with the Eastern Health Adult Mental Health GP Working Group (including Eastern Ranges GP Association, Greater Monash GP Association and Melbourne East GP Network).

It is designed to be a navigational aid for Primary Care Providers when making decisions about which mental health services may be most beneficial to their patients/consumers. Whilst this tool was initially developed with GPs as the key audience, it may also be of benefit to other Services identified within this tool.

This is not a definitive list of all activity within identified services or an attempt to be a map of all mental health service providers within the Eastern Metropolitan Region. It is hoped that it will complement existing resources, guides and directories and act as a quick decision making tool.

Whilst several services mentioned in this navigational tool are not designated mental health services, it is recognised that clients with mental health problems may be more inclined to use these services as a first point of contact. In particular, this recognises the importance of the Primary Care Service Provider role in the provision of mental health care.

USING THE NAVIGATION TOOL

A brief overview of the types of services provided by each organisation is listed on each page.
Information is also provided on eligibility for each service, along with contact details and internet addresses for further information and service activities. To assist with the navigation, a color coding system is in place to identify service types.

We are currently piloting this program for the next 3 months and welcome your feedback. Please contact us with your feedback or take our Assessment Quiz.
